Newent v Firebrands

To begin the first half Firebrands started the stronger of the two sides earning a string of short corners. The Newent defence held firm and for the remainder of the first half saw both teams make chances. At half time the scores were a reflection of the game at 0-0.
In the second half Newent took the upper hand and had the highest percentage of possession, coming close on many occasions only to be kept out by some excellent saves from the Firebrands keeper. After keeping Firebrands pinned in their 22 it was only a matter of time before Newent broke through with some fine skills and excellently executed shot by Jenny Price.
Newent remained on top until the last 5 minutes of the game when Firebrands earnt a short corner which they converted. Leaving the final score at 1 - 1.
Player of the match went to Birchy (Helen White) who did not miss a tackle all game!
